Hans Rosling on global population

As well as or instead of the (executive summary!) of Royal Society reading on population, we can watch this Ted Talk (ages since we had one of these – if ever?). Hans Rosling the statistician (don’t be put off – he’s a gem) talks about global population, income and family size, linking it to a green transition. Probably nothing so new for any of us, but nicely illustrated. Some of his other Ted Talks are more entertaining and use amazing digital graphics but this one – er – owes a lot to IKEA! http://www.ted.com/talks/hans_rosling_on_global_population_growth.html

Rosling’s project website is useful too http://www.gapminder.org/
